Introducing: Uzbekistan eVisa

What is an Uzbekistan eVisa?

With the introduction of a new visa that can be applied for online, Uzbekistan took an important step towards international tourism in July 2018. Even though the classic visa procedure still applies to some countries, citizens of 52 countries can still apply for an Uzbek eVisa. The application process is uncomplicated and online. An application must be completed and a processing fee paid. Subsequently, the application for the Uzbekistan visa is examined. If a decision has been made, the applicant will be notified. If the visa has been approved for Uzbekistan, the entry permit is linked to the passport number. In theory, therefore, only the current, valid passport must be taken on the trip to Uzbekistan. However, it is advisable to print out the electronic confirmation of the Uzbekistan visa and carry it with you.

Are there still any alternatives to the Ubekistan eVisa?

In addition, it should be noted that the electronic visa for Uzbekistan is still new. This means that technical problems and maintenance work can occur, which can lead to longer waiting times. At the same time, all travellers still have access to the classic visa procedure that was used until the introduction of the Uzbek evasion. Here an application is started online, filled in and printed out. Afterwards the document must be handed in together with the passport at the responsible Uzbek embassy in order to receive a visa. Should an application fail in the Evisum procedure, this way is still available to obtain a Uzbekistan visa. Like all electronic visas, the Uzbek system has its weaknesses. Therefore, it makes sense to make sure that the Uzbek eVisa has been issued successfully before departure.

Current limitations of the eVisa system

For this purpose a so-called “Status Check” is available on the official website of the Uzbek authorities. Simply enter your data here and the system will then inform you whether an eVisa for Uzbekistan is available in your name or not. Please note that the Uzbek eVisa can currently only be applied for by one person at a time. The Uzbek authorities do not offer group applications. Another important information: If you have paid for your online application and your Uzbekistan visa has been rejected, there is no possibility for a refund.
